The Deinonychus was a carnivorous theropod dinosaur that lived 108 million years ago. Its closest relative was the famous Velociraptor. It grew up to 11 feet long and its distinctive feature was the large claws on its hind legs which it used to tear apart prey. Interestingly, the first Deinonychus egg was discovered in the year 2000.
